It is not well done in the resource sector with many reports of escalating costs, late delivery and skills shortages. Important elements are the project objective, scope, budget, plans and schedule, reporting, evaluating performance and closeout. It requires effective organisation and communication for the project to be successful. To manage the risks associated with the delivery of projects resource companies need to ensure personnel are trained and standards are applied to project management.
