Process Plant Design

(1 Day Training Course)

Summary:

Planning and testwork for process plants

Introduction:

A process plant represents a substantial capital investment. It is important when establishing the design and engineering of mineral processing projects that the appropriate metallurgical testwork is undertaken early in the timeline to ensure that the ore bodies are effectively characterised and evaluated from a metallurgical standpoint. Too often these critical aspects of a resource are dealt with as an afterthought, with potentially disastrous consequences. This full day workshop is intended to provide a “how to” starting with drill care and arriving at an optimum comminution and mineral processing circuit for a project. The workshop includes lectures, workshop/discussions and simulation examples.

Key Learning Outcomes:

Attendees will gain essential knowledge of the metallurgical planning and testwork required when evaluating an ore body from the perspective of developing a metallurgical flow sheet and subsequent plant design. A process plant represents a large capital expenditure and the testwork undertaken when characterising the ore deposit needs to be efficiently planned and managed to achieve optimal flow sheet and plant design to facilitate the highest recovery and production outcomes. Detailed information is provided for undertaking design of a comminution and beneficiation circuit. Consideration is also given to the design of CIP/CIL circuits and froth floatation circuits.
